In September, 2014, there was a dispute between Disney and Deadmau5 when Disney filed claim in hopes to stop the EDM artist’s mouse ears from receiving a trademark in the U.S.

Disney said that the renowned ears resembled the Mickey Mouse ears and that having this trademark would be damaging to business for Disney. Joel Zimmerman, the artist behind the ears, has been wearing them during shows for years, and refused to comply. Angrily accusing the company of being the one stealing from him, he claimed that his song, Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff, was used in the back ground of a Mickey-Mouse collage video. He felt that if there had never been any confusion between the artist and the company of Disney, there never would be.

According to one of Deadmau5’s attorneys, the dispute has been settled Apparently, “Disney and Deadmau5 have amicably resolved their dispute,” but the agreement has not yet been confirmed. We will continue to keep our ears open in hopes for a declaration that the mice are living in harmony
