WATCH: Future Islands Release New Video For “A Song For Your Grandfathers”

Future Islands has released a new music video for “A Song For Your Grandfathers” to commemorate Father’s Day. The song is a particular standout track from their acclaimed 2014 record, Singles. The bulk of the video was shot at a family reunion in North Carolina.

In honor of the arrival of Father’s Day, Future Islands has produced a heavily pro-family music video for their single “A Song For Your Grandfathers.” Shot primarily during a family reunion in North Carolina, the video shows the group performing for their family just before yukking it up with their folks before a calming bonfire. The most touching element of the video happens when the lead vocalist utters a line about “the ghost of the old man, watching over me,” at which point the video cuts to the vocalist shedding quite a few tears. It would seem that the memories of his grandfather are so powerful and so gut-wrenching that it hits him directly in the feels. Future Islands has also created a website where visitors can share the video by attaching it to a digital card.

Future Islands have been on tour for the better part of the last few months. Back in November, the band performed at Red Bull’s 30 Days In LA Festival. They also performed at this year’s SXSW Festival along with a long list of other incredible acts, such as Charles Bradley and Laura Marling. There have been stirrings that the band plans to perform a special performance for their 1,000th show in North Carolina. You can view the new video just below the article here.
