Supersuckers bassist and lead vocalist Eddie Spaghetti announced his diagnosis of throat cancer on June 18 before he performed at Seattle’s Tractor that night.
Spaghetti is a founding member of Arizona-based rock band Supersuckers, and has recently been diagnosed with stage 3 oropharynx cancer, for which he will go into surgery next month, as reported by Consequence of Sound. During the band’s performance in Seattle on Thursday night, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder joined them onstage to cover The Ramones’ “I Believe in Miracles.” Due to Spaghetti’s health, that performance will be the band’s last live show for the foreseeable future. Supersuckers have set up a fundraising page where fans can donate to Spaghetti’s treatment costs.
Eddie Vedder has been showing up as a guest performer at a number of live performances lately, including those of The Who, The Sonics and Liam Gallagher of Oasis.
Spaghetti worked on solo projects while also being a part of Supersuckers, as with his 2013 release of The Value of Nothing, his second solo album. That same year, Spaghetti and the rest of the group performed at Toronto’s NXNE Festival.
