Alessandro Cortini Announces New Album Risvelgio For July 2015 Release

Long time Nine Inch Nails collaborator Alessandro Cortini just announced the release of another Hospital Productions solo album, Risvelgio, set for July 27th.

The 2xLP/CD was written while on tour, just like his previous release, Sonno. Risvelgio “maintains the grittiness and intimacy introduced on his debut, but expands upon it, offering a wider spectrum of emotion and depth,” as stated in a Hospital Productions press release.

The press release also described the musical and productional directions Cortini took with the new album: he “implores and emphasizes the imperfections and visceral textures of electronics vacant from so much contemporary solo synthesizer music,” and does this in part by the addition of a Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer to the analog sequencer MC-202 featured on Sonno. As Cortini describes it,

The 303 can be such a haunting instrument used in a certain way, and I felt it completely fit the mood of the previous work I have done on the 202, especially when given a specific location in space….it’s such a living instrument.

Cortini’s most recent project was Skarn this past October; before then, the release of Forse Vol. I in 2013 and before then, tour as keyboardist again joining Nine Inch Nails.

An upcoming audio-visual performance at the Berlin Atonal festival (Aug 19-23) will present both Sonno and Risvelgio. Tickets are available on the festival’s website.
