The Sisters of Mercy are celebrating their thirtieth anniversary with a vinyl box set that will include their debut record as well as three EPs the were released around the same era. The massive record set will see a release this July.
Any group that utilizes any sort of dark, occult themes in their music owes a little bit of a debt to The Sisters of Mercy. One might even go so far as to say that many of today’s groups, such as Ghost, would not exist today without the recordings done by The Sisters of Mercy. Beginning with their 1985 debut, First And Last And Always, The Sisters of Mercy utilized heavy thumps and Gothic imagery to fuel their records, and their popularity quickly grew. Now, some thirty years after the release of their debut, The Sisters of Mercy are rolling out a special collection that will feature their debut as well as a few highlight EPs that were released shortly after their debut record. The collection, named after their debut record, will consist of four total vinyl records released in a special edition package. The retrospective collection will also be released in digital format on the same day.
The First And Last And Always Vinyl Collection will be released on vinyl and on digital release on July 24th.
