Singer Jenny Hval is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Norway. Her charm comes from her voice, twist on innocence, and experiments in music. Her stunning performances capture audience members to her art, which she achieves in a conceptual and musical way. Her artistry exceeds expectations by incorporating literary and visual ways of expression. Once known as Rockettothesky, Hval takes her music to create an obscurely complex show for her fans.
Her debut EP, Cigars, started Hval’s early success. She was nominated for a Spellemannprisen award in the “best newcomer” category. Her two previously released albums, Viscera and Innocence is Kinky, raised high praise by fans. Her third album, Apocalypse, girl, was just released in June of 2015. In this record, she pushes her boundaries to defeat her struggles of doubt. Instead, she works to create the message of pursuing spiritual rebirth.
Hval is an artist of many talents. By adding imagery, her songs are described as being dreamy to listeners. Forming pop melodies and writing her own songs, Hval describes her music process as “an extreme experience.” Once the lead in a metal band, Hval has now transformed into a compelling solo act.
