WATCH: Sufjan Stevens Performs New Song “Harsh Noise”

Sufjan Stevens’ “Harsh Noise,” his contribution to the collaborative limited edition double LP One Night Stand, is now available to watch.

The album is project involving Stevens, The National’s Bryce Dessner, Porcelain Raft’s Mauro Remiddi, cellist Gaspar Claus and more. One Night Stand was a one-time event in 2012 organized by Claus, and is now being released as a limited edition double LP and accompanying film. According to Pitchfork it is available for purchase via Microcultures, a crowdfunding website, until June 30.

The two-and-a-half-minute video for “Harsh Noise” features Sufjan Stevens along with many of the other collaborators, shot in black and white. The sound of the track is a hybrid of music and sound effects, which is more than likely how the song got its title. Watch and listen to the premiere of “Harsh Noise” below.

Stevens released his latest album, Carrie & Lowell, in spring 2015. Several tracks from that album have been released, including “No Shade in the Shadow of the Cross” in February, “Should Have Known Better” and the title track in March, and “Exploding Whale” in April.
