There are indie rock fans and then there are Game of Thrones fans. The popular HBO show has produced a soundtrack with the indie rock group TV on the Radio. Their cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” landed them spot in the soundtrack for a show about kingdoms, clans, rivalry, and any explicit content that is often part of the show’s tribute to the Dark Ages in Europe. The Brooklyn indie group gave the theme song a dubbed rework at a recent show in support of Seeds in Brisbane, Australia.
TV on the Radio’s performance is anything but amazing. The rework of the famous theme song to the modern depiction of war, lust, and maintaining order with other kingdoms just screams one wonderful piece of art. As the light show dances in the background to the music, the artists themselves enjoy performing their own composition of the original song. The rework of the catchy tune was worked into their new song “Ride”, a track from their fifth album. TV on the Radio’s vocalist Tunde Adebimpe chanting “Mother of Dragons”. Sadly, Khaleesi did not make an appearance on stage, according to an article from Daily Beast. If they end up recruited by the producer in charge of the music to the hit show, let’s see if this theme song comes up in some later seasons of the popular show. Maybe Khaleesi will show up in the video entourage of clips from some of the recent Game of Thrones shows.
