The Black Dahlia Murder Announce New Album Abysmal For September 2015 Release

The Black Dahlia Murder have announced a new album with a September 18th release, via Metal Blade Records. Abysmal is the band’s 7th album in their 14-year existence and the follow-up to their 2013 record Everblack. Abysmal will stick to the same Dahlia Murder blueprint, but as the years have passed their progression has lead them to what their vocalist Trevor Strnad calls their, “Ritual release.”

“It is an album wrought emotion on a scale that we haven’t reached with our previous attempts. It’s dripping with urgency, and an undeniable sincere life and death purpose,” said Strnad. “It has moments of triumph and moments of utter abandon and defeat. It runs the gamut. If you can’t sense the message of despair in a song like ‘Receipt’ or the title track ‘Abysmal,’ than you are an unfeeling statue of a person.”

Strnad also gives credit to the evolution of their sound to the band’s newest member, drummer Alan Cassidy, who joined the Black Dahlia Murder in 2012. Abysmal is said to be unrelentingly aggressive and due to Cassidy’s skill will be at a speed previously unknown in their past works.

On June 24th, they will be releasing the first single off of Abysmal, as well as the album pre-sale. The band will also be embarking on an Australian and European tour starting next week.
