Mew, the alternative rockers hailing from Denmark, has officially announced a headlining North American tour. Since the release of their latest album, + –, in late April, the band has been busy prepping for their first tour in North America since the summer of 2009.
The tour is planned to kick off at the North Park Theatre in San Diego California, continuing a 16-show run. They will conclude their journey at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, Massachusetts. Indie rock duo Meric Long and Logan Kroeber, most commonly referred to as The Dodos, will support the band on all dates.
Since their formation in 1994, Mew’s career has been met with significant commercial success, beginning with the release of Frengers in 2003. The band is comprised of lead vocalist Jonas Bjerre, guitarist Bo Madsen, bassist Johan Wohlert and drummer Utke Graae Jørgensen, For years, the band continued their list of positive achievements, including more critically acclaimed albums, including 2005’s And the Glass Handed Kites. In early 2013, the band announced via their Facebook page that they were no longer signed to Sony and made the decision to release music independently. + – is the band’s sixth studio album.
“We are thrilled that we will finally be returning to North America to tour. It’s been too long and we can’t wait to play for our U.S. and Canadian fans again,” said Bierre via a press release.
