Cradle Of Filth Announce New Album Hammer Of The Witches For July 2015 Release

The wait will soon be over for Cradle of Filth fans. The infamous and highly influential British metal band have announced that their upcoming record, Hammer Of The Witches will be released on July 10.

Frontman Dani Filth and his band of riotous cohorts have once again joined forces in the studio to craft yet another fantastic piece of dark heavy metal music. The new record, titled Hammer Of The Witches is the follow-up to the group’s 2012 The Manticore & Other Horrors, released in October of that year, and it’s the second studio release from the group since 2001, when they released Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa. Cradle of filth also expanded their catalog in 2012 when they re-issued and re-mastered eight of their classic albums, many of which never saw release in America.

Although drawing the title from a section of a medieval document that provides guidelines for the prosecution of witches, the record tells a story from the other perspective: the “Witches” are out for revenge, and their “Hammer” will lay waste to all who oppose them. To put it another way, these witches are pissed, and God help you if you try to stand in their way.

The record was recorded in Suffolk, the heart of Britain’s old Witch Country, with principle recording taking place at the supposedly haunted Grindstone Studios. All of this otherworldly atmosphere leaves a perfect foundation for the band to explore their material, which has always drawn from relatively dark, occult themes and periods in history. The thirteen-track record, which includes two bonus tracks, will be released on July 10th through Nuclear Blast.
