Electronic artist Class Actress has announced a second EP titled Movies, set to be released June 23rd on Casablana Records. The six-song EP revolves around solo artist Elizabeth Harper’s experiences after relocating to Los Angeles from New York. It projects a story line following what is deemed the “Dark underbelly of Beverly Hills,” while implementing the synthesized pop that Harper is known for.
With Harper working as self-producer, with help from contemporaries such as Neon Indian and Mess Kid, and executively produced by synth-disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder, the four year gap of anticipation that Class Actress fans have pent-up will be well worth it.
“It was such an amazing experience to work on a release for Casablanca again,” said Moroder, who had worked with Casablanca records in the late seventies. “It means a lot to me at this point in my career anytime someone is interested in working with me. She [Class Actress] is so lovely to work with, and made the work a very enjoyable experience for me.”
Class Actress have also released the first single off the EP titled “More Than You,” along with a music video that reflects the aforementioned description of the EP’s. The beginning of the video includes a sultry, reverbed guitar intro against a red draped background, that is undoubtedly influenced by the early 90s David Lynch noir-drama Twin Peaks as well as the works of Bret Easton Ellis.
