MS MR have released tour dates for their North American/European tour starting today, June 3, in light of their upcoming sophomore album, How Does It Feel, set to be released July 17.
The New York based band of two released their music video for Painted, the first single off of the album, last Tuesday, May 28, inspired by Kubrick and the 70’s documentary The Secret Life of Plants. The new track has a more techno influence than their previous tracks, but Lizzy Plapinger’s vocals still lead the trademark MS MR sound the duo established on their first album, “Secondhand Rapture,” released back in May 2013.
As well as celebrating their new album release, the tour marks the start of a philanthropic approach to their ticket sales. The band has decided to give a portion of the ticket sale proceeds to the Third Wave Fund.
According to the Third Wave Fund’s website, it is, “the only national fund that supports and strengthens youth-led gender justice activism focusing on efforts that advance the political power, well-being, and self determination of communities of color and low-income communities in the US.”
“We’re thrilled to be able to contribute a portion of ticket sales from the How Does It Feel Tour to Third Wave Fund, a grassroots fund that supports feminist, queer and trans-rights organizations,” said Plapinger and MS MR producer Max Hershenow. “A deep-seated belief in equality, self determination and equal opportunity is at the root of our ethos as a band, and we feel we have a responsibility to bring attention to organizations that work towards those causes.”
