Today Los Angeles-bred garage punk band FIDLAR announced the release date for their second full length album, Too, on September 4 via Mom + Pop Music. Since the release of their well-received self-titled first album, FIDLAR, the band has been busy headlining Costa Mesa’s revered yearly Burgerama festival and dropping unique spins on tracks, including a cover of Sheryl Crow’s “If It Makes You Happy”, which came out earlier this year.
Recorded in just two weeks, the band’s second album will be the first release in collaboration with a producer. Comprised of 12 songs, the album will embody the pop-infused garage rock that put the band on the map when they debuted on the scene.
Lead vocalist Zac Carper said of the album, “We could have made record number one again… but instead we decided to challenge ourselves and admit that we don’t know everything. Up until this point we had recorded everything ourselves, so working with a producer taught us so much. I didn’t want to make a standard rock record. The goal for this album was to think outside the box and I think Jay really helped us do that.”
Along with the album announcement, the band introduced the album’s first single “40oz. On Repeat”, with an accompanying music video. Under the direction of Ryan Baxley, the video is a charmingly comical tribute to legendary music videos. Watch Carper rock Britney Spears’ renowned “Hit My Baby One More Time” getup below.
