Psychedelic electronic music group Neon Indian released new single, titled “Annie”, on May 26th. The song, a four minute jam with the band’s characteristic distorted vocals and synth tones, is their first release in two years. As reported by Paste Magazine, Neon Indian has only released a song on the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack and a five-track remix EP entitled Errata Anex since 2013.

The track has a bouncy feel, and borrows from disco influences. The song is sung to a girl, Annie, with a repeated chorus “Answer up, answer the machine”. The lyrics are mysterious, as is typical of those sung by the psychedelic group.

Neon Indian, whose music is composed by Alan Palomo, was formed in 2008 in Denton, Texas at the University of North Texas. Palomo’s compositions have a very unique and specific electro-mangled sound, and quickly grabbed the attention of music critics. His musical project was hailed by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and SPIN after the release of Psychic Chasms on Lefse Records in 2009. Their debut EP was designated Best New Music by Pitchfork Media, and the band was soon on the festival circuit.
