Since the release of their last album, Bloom, in 2012, dream pop duo Beach House have remained quiet about the progress of their newest work. Back in October, the band performed teaser for their forthcoming album at their show in Montreal. Today, the duo has announced the release of their fifth album, Depression Cherry, which will be available August 28th in North America via Sub Pop Records.

The duo began recording Depression Cherry in November 2014 at Studio in the Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana through January 2015. Chris Coady helped the band produce and record the album.

“In general, this record shows a return to simplicity, with songs structured around a melody and a few instruments, with live drums playing a far lesser role. With the growing success of Teen Dream and Bloom, the larger stages and bigger rooms naturally drove us towards a louder, more aggressive place; a place farther from our natural tendencies. Here, we continue to let ourselves evolve while fully ignoring the commercial context in which we exist,” said the band of the album. “For us, Depression Cherry is a color, a place, a feeling, an energy… that describes the place you arrive as you move through the endlessly varied trips of existence…”

Check out the track listing, along with selected lyrics by the band below.
