The two daughters of blues legend B.B. King are claiming that they believe the death of their father was triggered by poison, Brooklyn Vegan reports. King died earlier this month at age 89 after being hospitalized and receiving home hospice care for a few of weeks.
King’s daughters, Patty King and Karen Williams, filed an affidavit that reads:
“I believe my father was poisoned and that he was administered foreign substances to induce his premature death, and request a formal investigation into this matter. Based on the administration of foreign substances by unlicensed and unscrupulous characters, I believe my father was murdered.”
A story via CNN describes the power struggle that existed between members of King’s family and his management. King and Williams accuse LaVerne Toney, their late father’s business manager and Myron Johnson, his personal assistant, of neglect.
In early 2015, King, Williams and a third daughter, Rita Washington, accused Toney of elder abuse and neglect. However, due to lack of evidence, the judge threw out the case.
King’s body is currently at the Clark County, Nevada’s coroner’s office. His funeral is scheduled for this Saturday, May 30.
