Back in April, Swedish punk band Refused announced brand new album in the works. Along with the announcement of their forthcoming record, Freedom, the band also unveiled the first single “Elektra”, an energetic, guitar-heavy track that provided an exciting look into what is to come.

Today, the band has released another single from that album, “Françafrique”, an apparent ode to France’s relationship with the African colonies they once held control over.

The track was premiered over at The Guardian, where vocalist Dennis Lyxzén described the band’s inspiration for the song while discussing “politics, existential issues and what we wanted to present as a band in 2015. We talked about the political situation in Europe, capitalism and how it affects people.”

The track is another vigorous and lively piece from the band that lays emphasis on the political message comprised in the lyrics.
