Members Of The National And Sufjan Stevens Collaborate On New Album One Night Stand

French cellist Gaspar Claus collaborated with a number of artists at The Permanent Festival in Brooklyn in 2012, resulting in a new LP entitled One Night Stand.

The album will feature 11 songs and some of the members of the session include Sufjan Stevens, The National’s Bryce Dessner, Porcelain Raft’s Mauro Remiddi, The Luyas’ Jessie Stein, Bing And Ruth’s David Moore, Shorebilly’s Rémi Alexandre, and Claus’ father Pedro Soler and Claus’ sister Clara Claus, among others. According to Stereogum, they are using the French crowd-funding site Microcultures to release the album and their campaign will take place over the next six weeks, ending June 30. Project backers can get the limited edition double vinyl of One Night Stand, as well as other related merchandise including a super limited version composed of Clara Claus’ original artwork, a signed silkscreen by Clara Claus and a private concert by Pedro Soler, Gaspar Claus or Dawn of Humans’ Emil Bognar-Nasdor. There is mention on the website of the group hoping to continue what started in Brooklyn by bringing One Night Stands to other cities worldwide.

Gaspar Claus worked with Porcelain Raft back in 2013 on the album Permanent Signal. Sufjan Stevens recently released his seventh studio album, Carrie & Lowell, including tracks such as “Should Have Known Better,” “No Shade in the Shadow of the Cross” and the album’s title track. He also released track that didn’t make the cut called “Exploding Whale”. Members of The National have released two collaborations with members of Menomena, “You Shall Know Spirit” and “The Ol’ River Gang,” as new project called Pfarmers. The National also released a song featuring Sharon Van Etten called “Sunshine On My Back,” and have announced a box set called A Whole Lot of Sorrow which stemmed from working with Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartannson at the Museum of Modern Art. The group also performed as part of the MusicNow 2015 lineup in Cincinnati in March.
