Ryn Weaver’s piecing together a string of single releases that makes her upcoming new album that much more exciting. Mere days after releasing the video for “The Fool,” Weaver has released another video for her new single “Octahate.” The video shows the enormous knack that Weaver has for putting together impressive short films to accompany her singles.
Ryn Weaver’s shown off her serious side in the video for “The Fool,” and now she has decided to broadcast her silly side in the video for her smash single, “Octahate.” Featuring Weaver prancing around in a fancy, yet mostly empty mansion, Weaver dances herself into a frenzy with an unknown compatriot. The scene then shifts to the dining room where the two friends go to town on a fantastic looking spread, jam-packed with various fruits, vegetables, and cakes. In true childlike fashion, the fancy dinner soon turns into an entertaining food fight, with cakes being slung around like they were grenades. Eventually, the two decided to jump onto the table and dance around amongst the food, all devil may care. The frivolity of the short film shows the other side of what looks like a dual personality that Weaver has: she can be serious and find ways to address some serious adult topics, like power in a relationship, yet she can also shred that serious side and be a silly kid when she feels like it.
Both “Octahate” and “The Fool” are lifted from Weaver’s highly-anticipated new album The Fool, which will see a release on June 16th.
