Catfish and the Bottlemen have had a huge unabashed fandom for actor Ewan McGregor for a very long time, and now all their years of wearing McGregor on their sleeves (and drum skins), McGregor himself has taken part in the Catfish’s latest music video for “Hourglass.” Clocking in at a little over six minutes long, the video for “Hourglass” features Ewan McGregor taking part in, and even enjoying, the new music video for the group, which just released an album roughly seven months ago.
Catfish and the Bottlemen have enjoyed their fare share of success as of late. They’ve performed in several concerts and music festivals, the most recent being their appearance at the Radio 104.5 Radio Block Party festival just a few short days ago. Despite all of their recent successes, however, they’ve yet to reach their one true goal: to meet, in person, the great actor Ewan McGregor and, if possible, do some sort of work with him. That wish has now been granted to the group, as McGregor himself has taken part in the music video for “Hourglass,” the latest single release off of their upcoming record.
Shot in black and white, the video shows how a chance encounter can lead to something spectacular. It opens with McGregor and Bottlemen Van McCann meeting in an elevator. McGregor’s heard humming some sort of song at what seems to be a favorite of his. It turns out that McGregor was actually working out a song of his own and McCann, who lives in a little flat across the way from McGregor, overhears the song and secretly takes the song over when McGregor gets stuck on a particular verse. It’s a fantastic short film that’s clearly a labor of love from Catfish and the Bottlemen, and it’s a labor of love that pays off in spades.
Catfish and the Bottlemen are currently on tour, promoting their latest album, The Balcony, which was released last September.
