The entirety of the Joy Division catalog will be reissued on vinyl with remastered audio and bonus tracks to mark the 35th anniversary of the single “Love Will Tear Us Apart.”
Rhino Records will be releasing Unkown Pleasures and Closer on 180-gram vinyl on June 29, while Still and an expanded version of Substance will become available on July 24, according to Consequence of Sound. The Substance reissue will include audio that was remastered in 2010 and two bonus tracks, “As You Said” and the Pennine version of “Love Will Tear Us Apart.” That extended album will be available on CD on July 24 as well. The other three album reissues have audio that was remastered in 2007.
Back in 2013, rare recordings and outtakes from Joy Division and other artists were found in the trash and rescued. A legal battle over the lost tapes followed, with Joy Division’s Peter Hook getting involved and doing interviews with publications like Rolling Stone. In March 2015, Hook organized a benefit show in which he performed Joy Division’s entire catalog to honor the 35th anniversary of Ian Curtis’ death.
