Metallica is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. The bands line up consist of founding members (1981) Hetfield and Ulrich, and longtime lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo. Metallica has released nine studio albums, four live albums, five EPs, 26 music videos, and 37 singles. They’ve collected eight Grammy Awards. and five of their albums have consecutively debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. They’re ranked as one of teh most commercially successful bands of all time, having sold over 110 million records worldwide.
Metallica is on this years lineup for the X Games and will perform in Austin for the first time in six years. This year the event is introducing the new ‘Super Stage.’ Bigger acts call for a bigger stage. The X Games is constructing a Super Stage capable of providing more space for everyone to rock out to Metallica and Nicki Minaj.
Tony Hawk one of the worlds most notable skateboarders stated in an interview with the Rolling Stone that, “Metallica has helped provide the soundtrack for action sports since I can remember…Having them play at X Games is huge, so I’ll be front and center for their concert.”
