Tanlines released a new video for their single “Pieces.” This single is off of their new album Highlights, which is due for release on May 19 via True Panther Sounds.

The music video for “Pieces” was produced by Funny or Die! The funky beat of the song is accompanied by the opening scene which takes place on Venice Beach. The majority of the video captures lazy summer days with pick-up basketball games. By the end of the video, the duo is participating in a 2-on-2 basketball tournament to win a cash grand prize.

Tanlines has embarked on a unique pathway in order to promote Highlights. Last week, the band held a conference-call styled album stream. Yahoo among others called this move one of the most creative new album campaigned created in years. Additionally, on May 13, Tanlines will allow unlimited streaming of the entire Highlights album on their website for a limited amount of time.

As the release for Highlights is only a week away, it has received rave reviews from critics. The duo has previously released singles “Slipping Away” and “Invisible Ways.” The New York Times, “The new album reveals itself as a spry furtherance of the pairs’ lilting tropicalia melodies, African percussion and tidy, club-ready synths.”
