Yet another Record Store Day has come and gone. Some folks went out to their local record stores, leafing through the racks and searching for that vinyl gem that they’ve always been looking for. Others merely listened to their favorite records during the course of the day. Still others in the Brooklyn area found themselves congregating at Rough Trade Records, enjoying a rare local performance by the Dresden Dolls.
The Dresden Dolls arrived in Brooklyn on Record Store Day to give their New York fans a performance that they would remember for a while. Since leaving her original label in 2008, Amanda Palmer has utilized the Kickstarter-ish website Patreon to allow her fans to gather together online and uncover new and exciting information about the Dresden Dolls. The biggest and most attention-getting post that hit Palmer’s Patreon website was the stream of the Brooklyn performance for their fans to enjoy. The performance went viral so quickly that the full webcast soon got released via YouTube for everyone to enjoy. The setlist for the performance was one of the more eclectic setlists that the Dresden Dolls have ever utilized before, mixing a variety of both early hits and recent material.
Amanda Palmer has been one busy lady as of late. Besides her work with the Dresden Dolls and her foray into the Patreon world, Palmer has also recently emerged from a Fall 2014 book tour to support the release of her book The Art of Asking.
