Little Boots Announces New Album Working Girl For July 2015 Release

Little Boots has had a busy year, and it looks like it’s about to get busier. The singer just announced a new album Working Girl set to be released on July 10.

The latest release follows her fall 2014 EP Business Pleasure. This makes Working Girl the second business-esque release she’s had in the past year.

Business Pleasure featured synth-pop tracks such as its title song, “Pretty Tough” and “Heroine.”

We have a taste of what Working Girl will sound like with Little Boots’ announcement today. Victoria Hesketh (AKA Little Boots) dropped a brand new track alongside her album announcement for this summer. Check out the track below.

The latest song, “Better In The Morning,” has all of the iconic pop we come to expect from Little Boots. She coos a bubbly melody that hearkens back to the songs elementary schoolkids use to taunt each other on the playground. The break in the song comes from an almost-spoken-word section, where Hesketh sings, “Better in the morning, I hope we can still be friends. Better in the morning, can we start over again?”

The backbeat consists of a solid electronic track that sounds a little like Tom Tom Club’s “Genius of Love.” She uses a melodic hook at every turn, and the song is jam-packed with grooves, synth lines and pure vocals. It’s an innocent-sounding song with an adult subject matter.

The tune is the second track on the latest album. It was produced by Ariel Rechtshaid, while the rest of the album has collaborations from artists such as Com Truise, Grades, Jeppe Laursen and Jas Shaw.
