To say the least, Death From Above 1979’s “Virgins” video is unforgettable. Director Eva Michon provides an extraordinarily creepy video on the corrupted activities of adolescents for the track from the band’s latest record, The Physical World.
Sex, drugs and rock and roll. As cliché as it gets, right? Wrong. Not in this dance-punk duo’s latest video. Michon’s cinematography provides a glance into a group of Amish kids exploring the trials and tribulations of their youthful freedom.
In the quest of taking advantage of their freedom, these kids surely make the most of it. From consuming mushrooms to snorting ashes out of an urn to licking the surface of each other’s eyes, the phrase “you only live once” is quite the understatement. Basking in their adolescence, the kids party around the barn banging their heads and enjoying the wondrous high of drugs and intimacy. The video’s conclusion depicts the classic morning-after: a boy wakes up, slightly confused, with a penis doodled upon his cheek.
