Daft Punk releases a tribute video to Nile Rodgers titled Nile Rodgers: From Disco to Daft Punk. Rodgers helped the group with some of their tracks including “Get Lucky” and “Lose Yourself”, so Daft Punk decided to return the favor with the French documentary.
Rodgers is known as the frontman of Chic, a band that originally formed in 1976. The group was known for their incredibly popular disco tunes such as “Le Freak” and “Everybody Dance”. Earlier this year, Chic announced that the group would be coming back together to release a new album, It’s About Time, the group’s first album in over two decades.
Daft Punk previously revealed their plans to do something special for Rodgers in a teaser photo from the documentary. It seems that they were so touched by his help and influence that they wanted to thank him in a very big way. In a short preview of the documentary, Daft Punk is seen typing a message that they plan to send off to Rodgers. The message is as follows:
“Dear Nile,
We are sending you this transmission to thank you for all your amazing songs.
Your music continues to inspire the world…
With Love,
Daft Punk”
A short preview of the documentary is available below. According to Stereogum, the full documentary is mostly in French, but available here for those that are interested. Any additional updates on Chic and Daft Punk can be found on the groups’ respective websites.
