Motorhead has decided to cancel their appearance at the Monsters of Rock festival scheduled for April 25 in Brazil, due to Lemmy’s illness. According to NME, Motorhead has missed/canceled a number of performances throughout 2013 and 2014.
According to various reports, Motorhead bassist Lemmy (Fraser Kilmister) is currently undergoing tests at a local hospital. Reports also claim he is experiencing gastric distress and dehydration. As stated above, in both 2013 and 2014 Motorhead canceled many of their scheduled tour dates due to Lemmy’s condition. According to NME, the bassist has had health issues related to diabetes since 2000.
In 2013 issues got worst for Lemmy when he had a hematoma. As result of this, he was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat and fitted with a pacemaker. In an interview with the New York Times, Lemmy’s worsening condition was attributed to the smoking and drinking he did in his early days. He explained that he gave up smoking and hard liquor, and he only occasionally drinks wine now.
During his interview with the New York Times Lemmy stated, “I’ll never get a job again. I’m paying for the good times, I suppose. It’s a mixture of all the things I ever did — and I did plenty.”
