Major Lazer and Ellie Goulding have gathered together in the latest Major Lazer single off of his upcoming record, called “Powerful.” The single is released ahead of the anticipated new record Peace Is The Mission

The combination of Major Lazer’s hip-hop savvy production techniques and Ellie Goulding’s vocal range have produced a new hit single from the former artist’s upcoming new record. The collaboration is so mighty that it’s a wonder why the two artists haven’t worked together before in a similar capacity. “Powerful” is only one of handful of tracks that Major Lazer has released which features the hip-hop leviathan collaborating with another artist. Earlier, Major Lazer released the song “Night Riders,” which featured collaborative work with Pusha T and 2 Chainz. The track featuring Ellie Goulding is almost wildly different from the 2 Chainz/Pusha T collaboration, and yet the use of Goulding for the new track gives a new light on the upcoming record. Although there are quite a few within the Major Lazer fan base that are hoping for a completely new, completely solo Major Lazer record, the current tracks that have been released ahead of the record’s release has given ammunition to the argument that Major Lazer’s true strength lies in his ability to work side by side with some of his fellow recording artists. “Powerful” is exactly what the title describes: a powerful, new hip-hop track that features a fantastic vocal track provided by Goulding that pushes Major Lazer into a whole new level of artistry that hasn’t been matched in previous moments in his career.
