Mad Decent Block Party 8/6 & 8/7 @ Festival Pier

Mad Decent is bringing their Block Party back to Philly again this year. This is no surprise, as Philly is the city where it all began. But that was 2008. And the party was an actual block party, free and open to the public. Since then the event has grown to include a North American tour, with stops in cities like New Orleans, Detroit, Toronto, and Phoenix. This year, Diplo and friends will kick things off at the end of July. They’ll rap it all up on September 26th, when the tour comes to a stop in Chicago.

Philly fans of course will be excited to see that this year the Block Party will be here for 2 nights, August 6th and 7th. The 18+ event will again take place at Festival Pier. And you can grab your tickets now. Last year’s event, which featured Diplo, Dillon Francis, Flosstradamus, and Vic Mensa (a late replacement for Chance the Rapper).

As of right now, only limited lineups have been released for each of the tour dates. But comparing the two nights as they stand, Thursday’s (8/6) show is looking like the better of the two (so far). On Thursday night, you can see Jack U (aka Skrillex and Diplo), Jauz, Nadus, Swizzymack, and What So Not (which unfortunately no longer includes Flume). Friday night’s lineup features Dirty South Joe, Giraffage, and Major Lazer. It looks there are 7 acts in total that have yet to be announced, 4 for Friday and 3 for Thursday, so stay tuned for more information on that.
