Best Coast is an American rock duo from Los Angeles, California that formed in 2009. The band consists of songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Bethany Cosentino and guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno. The duo will release their third full-length album,California Nights, on Harvest Records on May 5th.
Best Coast has been inspired by The Beatles and The Beach Boys. The Guardian described their music as “”a lo-fi 60s garage rock and surfing band fronted by a girl group singer.” Additionally, Allmusic stated that Best Coast”[draws] inspiration from ’60s surf rock and girl groups, Best Coast’s noisy lo-fi sound gave a nod to contemporaneous acts like Hot Lava, the Vivian Girls, and Brilliant Colors.”
Their upcoming album, California Nights, is their most recent work. Their website describes the albums as “a brighter, more sparkly, more sophisticated, more psychedelic Best Coast album across the board, embodying the rich lightness and stinging darkness of a California state of mind.”
