LISTEN: Florence + The Machine Release New Song “As Far As I Could Get”

In continuing their rollout of new material in anticipation for How Big How Blue How Beautiful Florence + The Machine reveal a new cut that will not be making the album titled “As Far As I Could Get.” The group released a What Kind Of Man 12 inch vinyl in honor of National Record Store Day that passed April 18th. The track “As Far As I Could Get” is the B-side record.

Florence + The Machine’s new song “As Far As I Could Get” carries a different vibe from her previous releases this year. The track has a more uptempo production and is more percussion driven as opposed to the more melodic releases seen from the group this year. Florence Welch’s lyrics harken on a sense of being on an emotional edge. An edge where one wrong step can ruin everything, or burn bridges that are so delicately built on the wooded materials of the Earth. Florence is detailing a destructive relationship with the world around her.The intensity of the song increases throughout and comes to a head within the last minute of the track. Florence bares her soul into the audio, and comes to a realization that she’s better off doing something else with her time instead of wasting it on a situation that is not going to help her progress as an individual. In this process self-love and acceptance are explored. A common refrain of the song is, “Cause if I am unloved, I have unloved too.”

The band has had a busy 2015 thus far with the release of new material, and visuals such as Florence + The Machine’s “St. Jude.” Florence + The Machine recently released video for the song, “Ship To Wreck” on Thursday. In addition to the many visuals and songs, Florence + The Machine will be hitting the 2015 festival circuit headlining at venues such as Coachella and Lollapalooza.

Florence + The Machine just wrapped up headlining the second weekend of the famous Coachella Music Festival. In an unfortunate turn of events Florence’s set had to be cut down to 30 minutes during this weekends performance, because she broke her right foot while jumping off the stage during the first weekends show. How Big How Blue How Beautiful is due out for a June 2nd release, and the track listing for the album can be seen below. Until then check out the intoxicating release “As Far As I Could Get.”
