The Glass House in Pomona, CA was packed the other night for Father John Misty. The sold out show on Monday, April 13 was one of 4 shows the former Fleet Foxes’ drummer put on in California between weekend one and two of Coachella. King Tuff (Kyle Thomas) opened the show. During the main act, J Tillman dramatically danced and threw himself around the stage, as well as climbing into the audience several times. Perhaps in response to his infamous ‘no photography’ neon sign he took an audience member’s phone, recorded himself singing, and then pocketed the phone. (I’m told by other audience members that he came down and said hello after the show and then accidentally, or purposefully, went backstage without returning the phone.) The folk rock singer-songwriter played songs from his album I Love You, Honeybear and ended the evening with an encore including a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “I’m Your Man,” which he jokingly introduced with, “any Leonard Cohen fans?…Not for long.”
