Courtney Barnett, Melbourne-born and raised singer-songwriter, has released a video for her Record Store Day single “Kim’s Caravan” off her debut recording Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, released on 20 March 2015 by Mom + Pop Music.
The video is entirely dedicated to the rural theme. Rural characters, rural problems and doubts. Just as good as Sigur Ros describe Iceland’s finest landscapes and people in their videos, Barnett does the same for Australian countryside.
Speaking to NME earlier, the Australian singer-songwriter spoke about her album and how it reflected the last year of her life. She said: “The album is a general overview of essentially a year of emotions – 12 months of fucking every day day, up, down, up, down. I dunno what a normal person has, but everyday I had a midlife crisis.”
Courtney Barnett, who has just finished her UK tour, is already big star, having performed at NPR Music’s SXSW Showcase and The Onion & A.V. Club SXSW last month, and announced as key performer at this year’s Newport Folk Festival, continues to impress. It’s good to know she does not forget about her roots, and finds it fascinating to make videos about her homeland’s thorps. Click “Play” below to get to know what Barnett really means.
