Roger (Buzzo) Osborne is the guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter and founding member of the Melvins. Buzzo Osborne has collaborated with multiple musicians in the industry including artist such as Cows, and Tool. Osborne was also the founding member and guitarist for the groups Fantomas, and Venomous Concept. He was a high school friend of Kurt Cobain, and was the bassist for Cobain’s first band, Fecal Matter, in 1986.
The Melvins music is influenced by Black Flag’s mix of punk and metal, and other acts like Flipper, Wipers, Kiss, Alice Cooper, and more. Buzzo has Buzzo has also stated that his guitar playing is more influenced by Black Flag than Black Sabbath, with whom they are often compared.
The Melvins most recent work is, Hold It In, which was released Fall of last year. The album was released on Ipecac Records, and was led by the singles “Eyes on You” and “House of Gasoline.”
