Swedish soul pop phenomen, Seinabo Sey, is finally headed our way for a performance this May at Underground Arts. Tickets went on sale on Friday, and if you plan to be in attendance you should definitely grab yours ASAP! The singer-songwriter is headed out on an upcoming spring tour of the US in support of her debut EP, For Madeleine. She’ll kick things off right her in Philly on May 26th before making her way across the US, including stops in New York, Boston, Chicago, and more. The tour will come to a close in LA in early June.
Sey’s tour comes on the heels of a highly successful appearance at SXSW where she captivated audiences wherever she went. In listening to her music, you may find yourself confused over how to label her, but that’s exactly the point. In a recent interview, she said, “I love hip-hop and soul, but I desperately want to challenge it and see what I can bring to it. Genres don’t really exist [in my music] and I love that.” You can see exactly what Seinabo Sey means if you take a listen to her new EP, with stand out tracks like “Hard Time,” and “Pistols at Dawn.”
Seinabo Sey released her debut track, “Younger” in November of 2013. Her music instantly found critical acclaim, and the young musician found herself performing at prestigious events like the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize concert. And with a remix of her song from Kygo, Seinabo Sey’s music was spread to an even larger audience. His Soundcloud version of the song has over 11 million listens. This is a musician with a huge future ahead of her. You definitely do not want to miss her when she performs in Philly this May!
