Earl Sweatshirt is an American rapper-producer and member of the rap/hip hop group Odd Future. Earl and Odd Future have been featured in mainstream magazines such as Spin, Billboard, and The Fader. He is currently signed to Columbia Records, as well as his own label, Tan Cressida. Earl initially gained recognition for his debut mixtape, Earl.
After the release of Earl his mother sent him to a boarding school in Samoa until his 18th birthday. In 2013, he released his debut studio album, Doris. Most recently, he digitally released his sophomore album, I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside: An Album By Earl Sweatshirt. Earl stated in an interview with NPR that his record label gave him no notice they would release the album. He says he considers this his first album because he feels he can back up everything he says, the good and the bad.
