Laura Marling @ Union Transfer 8/1

Laura Marling just released her new album, Short Movie, just a few days ago. She just wrapped up a ton of very well-received performances down at SXSW and now Marling has announced an extensive tour of North America that will go down this summer. She’ll start things off this July with an appearance at the Newport Folk Festival and then she’ll make her way across the US and Canada before heading to Philly this August. You can catch Laura Marling on August 1st at Union Transfer.

Her new album sees her approaching a more electric sound. Marling explained, “I felt like I couldn’t do another acoustic, slightly mystical storytelling album again.” The folk singer-songwriter has made quite a name for herself and she’s only 25 years old. By the time Marling was 23, she had already released 4 albums and could boast a critically acclaimed career with three Mercury Prize nominations and a Brit Award to top it off. In 2013, she released Once I Was an Eagle, an album which critics were quick to call her “greatest masterpiece yet.”

But with all of that success, Marling has still chose to approach the newest album with a sound, playing electric guitar for the first time on one of her records. The extremely talented musician wrote and produced the album herself. And now she’ll be hitting the US for her first North American tour in quite some time. So this August, you certainly do not want to miss her when she takes the stage in Philly! Grab your tickets now for Marling’s upcoming gig at Union Transfer.
