WATCH: The Go! Team Release New Video For “Reason Left To Destroy”

The Go! Team have unleashed a new video for their recent single “Reason Left To Destroy,” and it’s one crazy ride. Prepare to get weird.

With their latest record, The Scene Between, arriving a mere four days ago, The Go! Team have been hardcore promoting single after single off of the record. The latest single to receive the video treatment is “Reason Left To Destroy,” and it’s a doozy of a video. Part hallucinogenic road trip, a-la Jack Kerouac, part psychedelic madness, a-la The Trip, the video for “Reason Left To Destroy” is a bizarre, jarring experience. Lacking in any sort of plot-driven narrative, Go! Team have elected to incorporated flashes of various images with a grindhouse-style film grain that gives the video an almost amateur film school kind of vibe.

What is perhaps even more chilling about the video is the semi-horrific images that are splattered throughout the video. Mushroom clouds can be seen in very brief moments during the video, suggesting that the group feels that the world is on the verge of some sort of apocalyptic meltdown. It is the rather discomforting images that caused BuzzFeed to describe the video as “a cross between Carrie and The Blair Witch Project. Eyeball shots definitely abound just like in the latter film, and the apocalyptic, Judgement Day themes explored by the video certainly conjure up reminders of the former film, making the comparison spot-on.

As chilling as the video comes across, one can only wonder why Go! Team elected to use the images in brief flashes instead of making the film a blatant horror video through and through. Perhaps the video is emblematic of the problems that we face in the modern-day world. We are not in the midst of a quick end, as some would like us to think, rather we may find ourselves in a bit of a slow burn.
