We reported earlier this week that Kanye West was set to perform at Jimmy Kimmel’s event live from SXSW this year. Jimmy Kimmel has just announced that Kanye will not appear tonight as expected, according to Page Six.
In response to the announcement, one of Kanye’s reps told Page Six, “We were never confirmed . . . We took extraordinary steps and worked directly with the show to make it happen. Logistics were insurmountable.”
Following the announcement, Kimmel allegedly said, “If you do not like Kanye West, make sure to tune in Friday night to not see him.”
So it looks like those waiting anxiously to see Kanye at this year’s festival might be disappointed. With only two full days left of SXSW 2015, Kanye would have to make a surprise appearance somewhere at the festival soon for fans to sneak a peak of him in Austin. So far, there’s no indication that he has any shows or cameos planned for SXSW 2015.
Kimmel’s show allegedly made a specific sketch for Kanye to appear in, and had the logistics of the stage set up specifically for him. Those who plan on seeing Kimmel’s show live tonight will still have a full lineup of entertainment, sans Kanye.
Kanye West has been in the news a lot lately after being announced as the headliner for the Glastonbury festival. Even this announcement came with some controversy, as more than 50,000 people signed petition to remove him from the headlining bill this year.
In less controversial news, Kanye recently announced work on a new album, and released a brand new track “All Day.” Take a listen to that tune right here.
