Sleater-Kinney Announce Performance At Austin City Limits

Sleater-Kinney, an acclaimed female punk rock band, formed in Olympia, Washington, has been announced to perform at Austin City Limits on April 15. In anticipation of their grand tour in support of the latest LP No Cities To Love, the first record in almost a decade, the band will come to the ACL stage for the first time ever.

Just after announcing Sleater-Kinney as a headliner for this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival, the release of video for the new album’s hit “A New Wave” and the latest unveiling of the upcoming Carrie Brownstein’s new memoir for autumn release, the band was chosen as a key performer at Austin City Limits.

As mentioned by the ACL official website, hailed as “America’s best rock band” by Greil Marcus in Time Magazine, and as “America’s best punk band ever. EVER” by Rob Sheffield in Rolling Stone, the band put out seven searing albums in 10 years before going on indefinite hiatus in 2006. Almost a decade later, the trio has come back together with the surprise announcement of No Cities To Love, which New York Times critic Jon Pareles described as full of “hurtling, bristling, densely packed, white-knuckled songs that are all taut construction and raw nerve.”

In case you can’t join the band in the studio for taping, you will be able to join ACL Youtube channel in order to watch the entire taping as it happens live on April 15 starting at 8 pm CT.
