Canadian folk rock icon Leonard Cohen is as tireless and passionate in his 80s as always. After the September release of his latest LP Popular Problems, Cohen has already released a live album called Live in Dublin, and now another one is to be released.
Can’t Forget: A Souvenir of the Grand Tour, a collection of live songs Cohen does not perform live that often, will be released May 12, 2015, via Columbia Records. As reported by Stereogum, that album has a couple of unreleased covers, of Georges Dor and George Jones songs, and a couple of unreleased Cohen originals.
One of the new Cohen songs that will become a part of the forthcoming release, is called “Never Gave Nobody Trouble,” and it is now released as a single. A tender hint towards work of Tom Waits, the new song is much of a soft male blues rather than previous Cohen’s folk ballads we are used to.
Recorded during a soundcheck by Leonard and his band, “Never Gave Nobody Trouble” gives a general description of what the new record collection will sound like.
As mentioned by The Guardian, the other tracks on the album are: “Field Commander Cohen,” “I Can’t Forget,” “Light as a Breeze,” “Night Comes On,” “Joan of Arc” and “Stages.” It is also said that on Sunday, March 15, Cohen won the album of the year prize at the Juno awards, the annual ceremony for the Canadian music industry, for his 2014 collection Popular Problems.
