McDonald’s SXSW Party Lineup Announced

After a controversial build-up, the full lineup and schedule for McDonald’s SXSW music showcase has finally been released and features El Dusty, Buraka Som Sistema, and Yukon Blonde among others. The showcase will go from Sunday, March 15- Friday, March 20 at 4th Street and Red River.

McDonald’s SXSW music showcase has been a touchy subject over the past few weeks. The international fast food corporation valued at over $9 billion originally announced that they would not be paying the artists invited to perform at their event. Brooklyn-based duo Ex Cops, who was initially invited to play at the showcase, immediately rejected McDonald’s policy in public statement. After a strong wave of disapproval, McDonald’s announced that they would indeed pay all artists performing on their stage at SXSW.

While Ex Cops will not be appearing at McDonald’s SXSW party, there is a substantial list of artists that will. A false lineup was announced yesterday, but McDonald’s was quick to amend the error. The actual schedule was posted promptly and can be seen here.
