WATCH: Darkness Falls Release New Video For “Dance And Cry”

I’m not sure if dancing and crying should be two activities that should be combined in the same moment, but Darkness Falls is certainly a group that makes me at least a little bit curious about the two separate but apparently equal endeavors. Their newest video for the single “Dance And Cry” is at once mysterious and spooky and perhaps a little altogether ooky.

Darkness Falls is perhaps one of the more interesting indie groups out in force today. Soon to release what will be their second record in nearly six months, Darkness Falls has released new video for “Dance And Cry”, another fantastic single release off of their upcoming record of the same name.

The video for “Dance And Cry” features a scene set in some unknown night club, a perfect place for one to “dance and cry.” There are several young patrons that enter into the club and begin to hit the dance floor, but Darkness Falls elects instead to focus on two elderly folks as the primary subjects for the film. The woman of the pair enters into the club fairly earlier than the other patrons, and she takes her time in the Women’s Room to run her hands across her face, her careworn features seeming to cause a slightly yearning look as she glances into the mirror. She approaches the bar and sits next to an approachable gentleman who attempts to hold the woman’s hand. Whether playing hard to get or considering the move a little too aggressive for her liking, the woman hits the dance floor and starts workin’ it, only to be proceeded onto the dance floor by the gentleman she apparently spurned earlier. Evidently, when the older kids hit the floor, the party has truly begun, as all the other patrons take to the dance floor after the older couple start things up.

Most of the patrons of the bar have apparently come alone, as the elderly folks are the only ones who really pair up during the video, suggesting that the older generation’s a little bit bolder in shattering their loneliness than the younger generation. Whether a commentary on generational differences or not, the video that Darkness Falls has put together fits “Dance And Cry” like a glove. The early rhythm that starts the song off plays to the club patrons getting ready to get their proverbial groove on, kicking into the full force of the song once all the patrons get on up. A fantastic video that pairs nicely with the song itself, the video for “Dance And Cry” can be viewed just below this article.

Dance And Cry is set for release sometime this month. Stay tuned for details on the record. Darkness Falls also released a video for “Hazy” around this time last year, which preceded the release of Alive In Us, which was released in October.

Darkness Falls is Josephine Philip and Ina Lindgreen.
