Canadian rock supergroup The New Pornographers have announced a series of North American and European tour dates. Everything kicks off in Washington at the Sasquatch! Music Festival on May 22nd, 2015.
The group is touring in support of their August 2014 album, “Brill Bruisers“. On this tour, they will be making stops at number of well-known festivals, including: the aforementioned Sasquatch!, Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Toronto’s NXNE, and the Pitchfork Music festival in Chicago. And, the band has filled in other dates around those festivals with concerts at clubs and other smaller venues. In the summer of 2014, ahead of the “Brill Bruisers” release date, The New Pornographers began releasing a series of videos, starting with the completely safe for work, “War On The East Coast” that is described by the band’s frontman AC Newman as having “some mid nineties second tier brit pop attitude.” Next, the group released live performance video for “Dancehall Domine”, which showed a slightly different side of The New Pornographers as it featured a lively vocal and rolling beat. And, they would go on to release another colorful music video with a vintage twist for “Dancehall Domine” in October 2014.
Additionally, The New Pornographers teamed up with NPR.com to tape a special performance for the series, “First Listen Live.” The “First Listen Live” show featured the band playing songs from the “Brill Bruisers” album at New York City’s legendary Brill Building. From the 1940’s through the 1960’s, the Brill Building was home to music publishers and offices in which songwriters would gather – often in pairs – to work on and churn out radio friendly pop material.
The band wrapped up 2014 with a concert at Philadelphia’s Union Transfer with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. And, most recently in late February 2015, The New Pornographers rocked the stage at the Noise Pop Festival in San Francisco, California.
