The indie-rock stars, Warpaint released a brand new song, I’ll start believing”, on yesterday and it’s pretty fierce. The song was mixed by one of the music industry’s reputable producers, Michael Patterson and produced by Warpaint. They also dropped along with the new song a full-length version of their successful hit “No Way Out” live, which was released to the world late February.

These ladies were busy in the studio recording last fall in Los Angeles, CA. The newest song has a much different feel than the last share but the content has similar emotions involved. It should come as no surprise on their release since they’ve made their promise to release new songs throughout 2015.

At the intro of the song, they make the harmonies cry in a way you immediately feel the emotional brokenness before the lyrics comes in. As soon as the words flow, vocalist Theresa Wayman sings, “Daddy left me once you know…. he said I have to do my own thing now”, you know almost instantly this song was about desertion of the father. In the story, the girl was only six months old and there could’ve been a possible pattern he may possess throughout her life, even still to her present moment. The crash of the cymbals and the drive of the song is pure psyche rock at its finest. There is great chemistry in the artistry and you can hear at times in the song. The ambiance of the song is delicate but yet controlled. As the song progresses you realize head-nodding is super ok as it becomes a form of healing revelation mentally to the subject matter.

The chorus recites, “I’ll start believing, I’ll start believing in you now” which could signify frustration, cope, & strength. This song draws you in towards the center of the song after there is an unexpected briefly unified band break. The electric guitar and drum presence becomes more intense and hypnotizing as the dynamic flares towards the ending of the song. The authenticity of the material they are creating speaks volumes on their heart-heavy musical presence and many people can relate to artists whom they can trust. The song-jewels they are dropping connect one by one in the ambiance and feel for what could be a possible anticipated new project for Warpaint.

In January 2014, Warpaint’s self-titled sophomore album was released by Rough Trade Records. The lady-rock stars are set to tour abroad this spring and California’s Desert Daze in the summer time.
