Foo Fighters will take part in annual Record Store Day this year, taking place April 18th, presenting a 10-inch Songs From The Laundry Room. As an honorable ambassador of Record Store Day 2015, Dave Grohl and his star band will present some of the early demos, a cover and previously unreleased track.
An upcoming release will include demos of “Alone + Easy Target” and “Big Me”, a cover of Kim Wilde’s “Kids in America”, and a previously unreleased track called “Empty Handed”.
The four-track collection was recorded at Barrett Jones’ Laundry Room Studios in Seattle, Washington. Both “Alone + Easy Target” and “Big Me” demos — early versions of songs that would eventually appear on the band’s self-titled debut album — date back to 1991-1993 and take the form of Grohl solo recordings, according to the fansite Foo Fighters Live.
As reported by consequenceofsound.net, “though there are few details on new track “Empty Handed”, it was believed to have been featured briefly during the Seattle episode of the Foos’ HBO docuseries, Sonic Highways. As for the “Kids in America”, a short preview can be heard during the closing credits of another episode.”
Foo Fighters, previously announced as participants of Mumford & Sons Gentlemen Of The Road Stopovers 2015 and this year’s Hangout Music Festival, will make a first release since their highly publicized LP Sonic Highways.
