Fall Out Boy Announce SXSW 2015 Performance And MTV Woodies Honor

In addition to headlining one of the biggest shows at SXSW this year, Fall Out Boy is on its way to being the first band inducted into the brand-new mtvU Woodie Awards’ “Hall of Wood.” The show and will be live in Austin, TX on Friday, March 20 at 4:00pm (CT) followed by the awards at 8:00pm (CT).

Fall Out Boy is set to take the stage with Big Sean and Years & Years, a 2015 Woodie nominee, for this year’s awards show. The awards will be hosted by Bleachers’ frontman Jack Antonoff. Wiz Khalifa, Tove Lo, Marina & The Diamonds, The Fat Jew, and Zoe Kravitz will be among those to give out the awards during the ceremony.

FOB already won the “Streaming Woodie” Award in 2014. Their performance at SXSW this year however marks one of the highest of highs for the band. As the headliner of the entire show, they will legitimately become a face of the Woodies image as one of the true veterans of the award’s history.

2015 is looking like a big year for them already. The release of their sixth studio album, American Beauty/American Psycho, last January gave the band its third No. 1 album to date. The single “Centuries” off of the album is already certified platinum. Following the album, Fall Out Boy is also gearing up for their huge new Boys of Zummer tour alongside Wiz Khalifa. They’ll be back in Texas later this year at the Austin360 Amphitheater on July 26.

ET and MTV have more on the story.
