Indie punk rock band Cloud Nothing will play at The Echo in April between the two Coachella weekends they’ll also be playing. The Cleveland native band is known for playing lo-fi noise rock and post hardcore. Their most recent album is Here and Nowhere Else was released in April of last year by Carpark Records.
The band was started by Dylan Baldi. He uploaded early songs he recorded in his parent’s basement “Hey Cool Kid” and “Whaddaya Wanna Know” to his MySpace page. Then in December 2009, rock promoter Todd Patrick from New York City invited the band to perform at Market Hotel in Brooklyn to open for the bands Woods and Real Estate. Baldi decided to drop out of college and start a real band when he saw the potential for success.
Their latest album has received good reviews, including an 8.7 from Pitchfork as well as high marks from Rolling Stone and Spin. The album also reached #2 on the CMJ Radio charts. Baldi has gone from recording songs in his parent’s basement to achieving the success he knew he’d fine. Be sure to catch Cloud Nothing as they continue to rise to more fame.
